A path blocked by overgrown hedge
A path blocked by overgrown hedge

This overgrown hedge at the top of the Ridgeway (near the new Deep Lane traffic light junction) was something that came up regularly as a concern of local residents.

The overgrowth was so severe that the pavement had been closed to prevent pedestrians straying into the road – into the path of oncoming traffic. Our canvassers were told by multiple constituents that the issue had been reported to their local Conservative councillors, but that no action appeared to have been taken.

The Plympton Labour branch, part of the South West Devon Constituency, along with South Hams and Plymstock branches, recognised the importance of getting this issue resolved. As such, they reported is as an urgent issue to the Labour-run Plymouth City Council who took swift action to get the offending foliage removed.

Our thanks to the Plymouth City Council team for taking such swift action in the interests of Plympton residents!

The now-open pavement with the overgrown greenery removed.
