Staff working for Plym Academy Trust went on strike recently over a pay dispute for Teaching Assistants, Meal-Time Assistants and other non-teaching staff.
The Plym Academy Trust, who’s top five executives enjoy salaries totalling over £1.6million (plus pension contributions), refused to honour the demands of staff who insisted that their pay should stay in line with national pay levels for equivalent roles. The estimated cost to the Academy of the proposals, from GMB and Unison unions representing the staff, is just £10,000 but as it stands, they’re refusing to budge.
Our Plympton branch unanimously passed a motion in support of the striking workers and offering any appropriate support in their campaign for equal pay.
